I’ve been clicking wrong ads my whole life.

I have a confession to make: I’ve been clicking on the wrong ads my entire life. And no, I don’t mean accidentally hitting those annoying pop-ups while trying to close them.

I mean deliberately clicking on ads that have nothing to do with me, my interests, or anything remotely relevant to my life.

You see, I’ve always had a bone to pick with digital marketing. Call me old-fashioned, but I’m not a fan of the idea of my every move being tracked online.

I don’t want algorithms knowing more about me than I do.

So, in my little act of rebellion against the so-called digital overlords, I’ve made it my mission to confuse the algorithm by intentionally clicking on ads that are completely irrelevant to me.

Are you trying to sell me a new diet pill? Well, joke’s on you, algorithm, because I’ve been happily embracing my dad bod for years.

Want me to try your new skincare regimen? My skincare routine consists of washing my face with whatever soap is in the shower.

Oh, and don’t even get me started on the ads for trendy fashion brands. Last time I checked, my idea of fashion was a pair of sweatpants with an old plain black t-shirt that may or may not have a hole in it.

I guess this is my small way of being an anarchist in the world of unethical marketing + advertising. Take that, targeted ads!

But here’s the kicker — sometimes, I wonder if I’m inadvertently helping these advertisers. I mean, if I click on enough random ads, will the algorithm just give up and start showing me ads for things I actually want to buy?

Or maybe, just maybe, I’m single-handedly causing 0.0001% chaos in the big bad world of digital marketing.

So, if you ever come across an ad for something really odd, just know that it might be me, wreaking a little havoc on the carefully curated world of targeted advertising, one clickity-click at a time.
